TheHILL | POLITICS | January 11.

The Akwa Ibom State chapter of African Democratic Congress ADC, has disowned its alleged financier, Arc. Ezekiel Nya-etok, explaining he is not just an ordinary member, but a man that cannot vote or be voted for in the forthcoming Governorship elections in Akwa Ibom State.

In a release signed by the State Chairman of the Party, Mr Utip Etiebet and Publicity Secretary, Obong Victor Amaitem, Arc. Nya-etok, has questionable financial status in the party which renders him as someone with no voting rights.

The party also debunked that Nya-etok has never been its proposed governorship candidate in the forthcoming general election, urging credible citizens of the State to feel free in joining ADC and contest for whatever position they wish to.

The release reads:

“EZEKIEL ANIEKAN NYAETOK IS NEVER OUR SOLE CANDIDATE OR OUR ASPIRANT FOR NOW, AFRICAN DEMOCRATIC CONGRESS (ADC) IN AKWA IBOM STATE CLARIFIES

“The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Akwa Ibom state wishes to inform the general public that one Ezekiel Aniekan Nyaetok is not a gubernatorial aspirant of our party neither is he the sole candidate of the party as some may have been wrongly fed with.

“In a release by the state chairman of the party, Elder Utip Etiebet and the state publicity secretary, Obong Victor Amaitem, the duo clarifies that Ezekiel Aniekan Nyaetok is only an ordinary member of the party who can’t vote or be voted for as at now because of his financial status in the party.

“The release wish to also alert the general public that several persons have met with us and expressed their desire to contest in our platform, but, that Ezekiel Nyaetok as at date, has not expressed same for any elective position and therefore could not have been an aspirant or a sole candidate of the party.

“As a party, we will not and never nominate someone who will be negotiating the future of the party base on the number of his billboards and noise in the media world, we know what happened in 2019 and we have learnt from same where parties gubernatorial candidates openly mount podium to endorse a sitting governor who was also an aspirant in the same election while some candidates “may” have acted Nicodemusly.

“ADC will never be a merchandise platform for self aggrandizement while the party fizzles away like the 74 deregistered political parties including the YDP where Arc. Ezekiel Aniekan Nyaetok contested as a governor in 2019. We will present candidates for 2023, we will contest the elections and we will win. 2023 elections will never be a lunching ground for us to negotiate for #30m refund,” the release stated.

The helmsmen accordingly advised the intending aspirants of the party to note that their party will not and never negotiate for any transitory economic benefit but that they will be contesting the 2023 elections to win and increase their electoral value and remain the most credible alternative party in the country.

The release particularly advised Arc Ezekiel Nyaetok to stop dragging the name of their national chairman to mud.

“Our national chairman is a credible and honest high chief, who believes in democratic norms and would not have told him (Nyaetok) that his gubernatorial ticket is available and reserve for him in Abuja as NYAETOK falsely spread to people including some gullible party members.

For the avoidance of doubt, every aspirant becoming a Candidate will have the state chairman signature on it.
As at today, seven (7) persons have declared for presidency, as at today, the record is incontestable that our presidential candidate in the 2019 general elections came third, it is also worthy to mention that we have 7 House of Representatives members,14 House of assembly members, 12 council chairmen, some councillors all elected under the platform of ADC.

“In Oyo state, we also have some appointees including a Special Adviser, a commissioner and board appointees.”

The release reminds the general public that both the manual and online registration of new members is ongoing and accordingly implored all to visit the state office at #6, Bassey Esau street, off Aka Itiam, Uyo, or any of their chapter offices for the registration.
