As part of efforts to project the Presidential aspiration of the Honourable Minister, Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, a coalition of Northern Youths, yesterday paid the required N100 million to purchase expression of interest and nomination forms for the All Progressives Congress (APC) leader.
The coalition led by Major Gen. Garba Audu, who represents the Presidential Support Committee (PSC) and Salma Abubakar, the representative of the Women and the Northern Youth Forum (NYF) alongside other members of support groups for Godswill Akpabio, procured the forms at the APC headquarters in Abuja.
The group’s action comes barely 24 hours after the former Akwa Ibom governor at a well attended event in his home State, officially declared his intention to lead the Country from May 29, 2023, when President Muhammadu Buhari will complete his tenure.
Chief Press Secretary to the Minister, Mr. Jackson Udom, also announced the development in a Facebook post, where he uploaded pictures of some of the Northern Youths at the point of the forms purchase.
TheHILL learnt that the Coalition is made up of over eighty five (75) registered political groups in the North. Members are drawn across ethnic, gender and religion.
