– As Campaign posters surface in Kano
Posters of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel have surfaced along major streets and towns in Kano State, TheHILL can authoritatively report
Emmanuel, who would be completing his second term as Governor of the leading oil rich State in 2023 has been rumoured to be interested in contesting the forthcoming Presidential election.
But the ex-banker has denied the insinuations, saying he is committed to completing innumerable uncompleted and ongoing projects and as well achieve his campaign promises to Akwa Ibom people.
On Sunday, TheHILL gathered that Emmanuel’s campaign posters flooded strategic locations in Danbatta town, the headquarters of Danbatta Local Government Area of Kano State. The posters had the photo of Mr Emmanuel dressed in Hausa attire with the inscription, “Udom is coming” alongside PDP logo.
The posters were also conspicuously displayed in major areas in Fagge and Tarauni, all major towns in Kano, according to our reliable sources in the popular ‘Centre of Commerce’.
The posters, however, did not suggest the sponsors of the campaign materials.
Meanwhile, the Akwa Ibom state Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong while distancing his boss – the Governor from the posters, however admitted that, it was not the first time, “someone’s campaign posters would appear on the walls of some States.”
Speaking exclusively to TheHILL on Sunday, Ememobong, stated, “to the best of my knowledge, he (Udom) has not declared…if some people have volunteered to print a poster of him for whatever purpose, it lies within the reach of those people.”
It will be recalled that while appearing last Monday as a Guest on the popular ‘Brekette Family Programme’ in Abuja, some callers to the programme called on Mr Emmanuel to contest the 2023 presidential elections. However, a section of the media later gave their opinion that the programme was “stage-managed and a political gimmick to make the governor popular.” His handlers have denied such submissions.
