The Immediate Past PDP National Legal Adviser and National Chairman Maintain Peace Movement MPM,Barr Emmanuel Enoidem on Friday continued his consultation with stakeholders within the Senatorial District with a visit to former Commissioner for Economic Development and the immediate past PDP State Legal Adviser, Barr Goddy Umoh.
Speaking during the visit, Barr Enoidem recalled that his relationship with Barr Umoh dates back to more than two decades, noting that they both worked together as professional colleagues as lawyers, as lecturers in the Faculty of Law, University of Uyo, as Commissioners and members of the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council and both also had a taste of public office as members of the State Working Committee, SWC, of the PDP.
Barr Enoidem noted that having served as the party’s State Treasurer for more than six years and National Legal Adviser for four years, his commitment and contribution to the party is not in doubt and his contribution to the growth of the party can never be faulted, and solicited the support of Barr Umoh on his 2023 Senatorial ambition.
Responding, the host and Chairman, Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly Service Commission, Barr Goddy Umoh noted with delight that his relationship with Barr Enoidem has been a long standing one, describing him as a very good friend.
He noted that the 2023 Senatorial ambition of Barr Enoidem is the people’s aspiration, recalling that he cherished the relationship he had with Barr Enoidem when he (Barr Umoh) served as Head of Department of Public Law, University of Uyo, where Barr Enoidem also worked as a Lecturer and the bond they shared as members of the Akwa Ibom State Executive Council when they served as Commissioners.
“There is no way you can abandon some history especially if that history has been a positive one. As far as 2023 is concerned, it is Enoidem’s divine time. His commitment to the party and to anything he does is always profound”, he stated.
He pledged to mobilize the people of Ikono LGA to support the 2023 Senatorial ambition of Barr Enoidem and the Governor’s Completion Agenda.
The Enoidem Consultation Team also visited the Essien Udim residence of Obong (Abom) E.P. Umanah who described Barr Enoidem as the most experienced, vocal and competent aspirant for the job, explaining that aside the zoning formula that has always been a rotational principle which has brought peace and stability, his vast experience at the state and national level will be of immense value to the Senatorial District and state.
“The hour has come. Your patience make you the most qualified. Your steadfastness and unalloyed support is what has gotten you here. You are the right material coming out at the right time”, he stated.
He stated that Barr Enoidem is not only vocal but will represent the Senatorial District effectively and knows how best to lobby, collaborate and bring something back home for the constituents.
Also speaking, Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Prince Ukpong Akpabio, stated that it is a known fact that Barr Enoidem have fought many political battles for others and his contributions to the success of past governments in the state stands him out, noting that his performance as PDP National Legal Adviser has become a reference point and template in the party.
“You are a symbol of superlative performance, excellence and hard work. Essien Udim is your strength, your strong hold. Your aspiration is coming to pass at God’s appointed time. Your campaign will be a collective effort and we know you to be a honest man that has the heart to selflessly empower and change lives”, he noted.
Also consulted was Prince Sampson Idiong whom Barr Enoidem described as a man who has shown consistency in character and honesty in any position he takes. “His yes is yes, his no is no”, he stated. He solicited the support and solidarity of Prince Idiong in his bid to represent Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District come 2023.
Responding, Prince Sampson Idiong described the National Chairman of Maintain Peace Movement, MPM, as a household name who has contributed significantly to the growth of the PDP in the state and country and has empowered many within and outside the Senatorial District.
“The name Barr Emmanuel Enoidem is a household name and this is a man who has paid his dues. In terms of human capital development, you cannot fault him. He is a political institution on his own. As far as me and my constituency is concerned, we are with you. And as far as Abak 5 is concerned, we are in full support of your Senatorial aspiration”, he declared.
Also visited was the former Chairman of Oruk Anam and former PDP, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District, Obong Sunny Udom who observed that Barr Enoidem’s 2023 Senatorial ambition is not an issue the requires long talk because the aspirant is eminently qualified and has paid his dues in the party both at the state and national level.
“You started from the party, to the State Exco as Commissioner, from there to Abuja as PDP National Legal Adviser and now enroute to the highest legislative house of parliament in the country. Go well, we’re with you, carry us along and please recreate your trademark of massive youth empowerment as our Senator”.
The Enoidem Campaign Team also visited a former Leader of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon Dr Etido Ibekwe who described Enoidem’s 2023 Senatorial bid as non negotiable.
“You are competent, you are experienced. My support for you is final and non negotiable. As far as the Senate in 2023 is concerned, you’re our man and we know you won’t disappoint us. The time is ripe for you to represent us in the Senate. That is our position in Essien Udim LGA, and even in Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency”, he declared.
On his part, the political leader of Ukanafun LGA, Obong Eno Akpan, noted with delight that the Enoidem Campaign Team has so far been issue based and urged the team to keep the tempo.
Obong Akpan who has been a former local government Chairman, former Commissioner and a former member House of Representatives, noted that having worked with Barr Enoidem at various levels of public service, he can attest to his capacity to represent the Senatorial District effectively.
“We have been together since the formation of the party and come rain, come shine we have remained together in the party. You have taken the right step by declaring your intention to serve your people. By all standard, you are qualified. Sell yourself, your vision for the Senatorial District and leave the rest to God”.
“I have no objection to Abak/ Etim Ekpo/ Ika Federal Constituency going to the Senate in 2023 for the sake of equity. It must go there but we must collectively work for PDP to win the 2023 election. As you stood by others, others will stand by you”, he assured.
