Barr. Linus Ukpong; a law luminary of repute and heavyweight politician from ONNA Local Government Area, where Governor Udom Emmanuel hails from, has joined the list of many indigenes of the area that have resigned their membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Until his resignation, Barr. Ukpong was a Special Assistant to Governor Emmanuel’s representative in the State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Nse Essien.
The resignation letter of the ONNA born bigwig dated Wednesday, 7th September, 2022 and addressed to his former boss; Rt Hon Essien read:
“I, Barr. Linus Ukpong, wish to tender my resignation as the Special Assistant to the Honourable member representing ONNA State Contituency in Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. (Hon.) Nse Essien.”
On why he resigned and abandoned his former party, Linus explained: “Politics they say, is a game of interest and in time like this, my interest lies with the Young Progressives Party (YPP) and Senator Obong Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA) the Governorship Candidate of the Party.
“My resignation is prompted by my personal belief, conviction and interest in the candidacy, vision and capacity of the Distinguished Senator Akpan to lead Akwa Ibom into the Promised Land we ought to be come 2023.”
Our check shows that within 1st September and today (8th September), the PDP has lost over 5,000 members who defected from the party to join the new but fast growing Young Progressives Party (YPP) led in the State by God’s anointed servant; Apostle Nyeneime Andy.
