In a remarkable display of commitment to the welfare of Akwa Ibom’s retired workers, Governor Umo Eno, who is less than five Months in office, has released an astounding N4.6 billion to pay gratuities to former primary school teachers, local government workers, and civil servants in the State.
This move, according to a release by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary; Ekerete Udo, fulfills Pastor Eno’s promise to provide financial security for retired workers and demonstrates his dedication to improving the quality of life for all Akwa Ibom residents.
TheHILL reports that the latest release of N1.6 billion brings the total amount released for gratuities to N4.6 billion, which includes an initial payment of N3 billion released a few months ago.
“The State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno is determined to keep to the promise he made to the State Organized Labour during their one – day national protest march, to regularly set aside funds to continue the payment of gratuities.
“The amount is designed to continue to pay down the arrears of gratuities of retired primary school teachers, local government workers and civil servants in the State,” the CPS explained.
Meanwhile, with this substantial investment in the well-being of retired workers, the Governor has demonstrated his unwavering commitment to not just the retirees, but the people of Akwa Ibom State.
