Twenty three Super Eagles players had their first training session on Wednesday evening, ahead of Sunday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying clash against Sao Tome and Principe.
With Head Coach José Santos Peseiro taking full charge, the team engaged in key drilling sessions, where they did several fitness routines at the training pitch of the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, as the Eagles seek a 20th appearance at Africa’s flagship tournament holding January next year in Cote d’Ivoire.
The Super Eagles who alongside Guinea-Bissau, have already secured qualification to next year’s AFCON from Group A, will continue their training exercise on Thursday.
23 players were called up for the game against São Tomé with the trio of Victor Boniface, Gift Orban and Jordan Torunarigha getting their first invite while Tyronne Ebuehi and Jamilu Collins returned to the team.
The likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Victor Osimhen, Moses Simon, Wilfred Ndidi, William Troost-Ekong and Samuel Chukwueze were also invited.
