A’IBOM ASSEMBLY MOURNS PASSAGE OF RENOWNED UYO ELDERSTATESMAN EMCO

 

Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, has expressed sadness over the passage of Elder Okokon Okon Etuk, one of the revered pathfinders of the state legislature, who died on the 25th day of November, 2022, at the age of 85.

Rt. Hon. Bassey, while receiving the remains of the Second Republic Parliamentarian, late Elder Etuk, said the erstwhile lawmaker will be solely missed and remembered for his contributions to the legislature and Akwa Ibom State.

According to the Speaker, “late Elder Etuk, popularly known as Emco, was a revered community leader, a pathfinder and a man who was imbued with a great sense of patriotism. He was a team player during his days in erstwhile Cross River State House of Assembly.”

He further charged the family and the people of Uyo Local Government Area to be consoled by the indelible memories and positive legacies he left behind and prayed the Almighty God to give them the fortitude and courage to bear the irreplaceable loss

Late Elder Etuk was a former two-term Councellor of Uyo Urban, Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council and represented his people under the Great Nigeria Peoples Party (GNPP) for two terms in the erstwhile Cross River State House of Assembly.
