Akan Udofia to PDP Delegates: Don’t take any oath on my behalf

Obong Akan Udofia, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP), has warned delegates and all his supporters not to take any oath on account of showing loyalty to him.

Akan Udofia, who made his stand known to the people on Wednesday, at his Campaign Ground in Ewet Housing Estate, shortly after declaring his intention to contest for the office of the governor of Akwa Ibom state in the 2023 general elections at the PDP Secretariat, Uyo, dismissed that oath taking does not work and therefore, no one should be swayed to engage in it.

“They are going to come and lie to you, and hand you money. In this project, it is only divinity. You can take anything or do anything, but not oath-taking. It does not work. Hold unto God and we will do this thing”, Udofia warned.

Obong Udofia explained that his governorship interest was borne out of the need to develop the state, by making good use of the enormous resources that God has blessed the state with, especially the human capital.

“The greatest resource in the state is human capital. I don’t need oil or any other thing to develop the state. I need my people to develop the state”.

Udofia, who had earlier consulted the chairman of PDP at his residence and the members of the party at large, stressed that his tenure shall be one of prosperity for all, adding that his government will be transparent, focused, dependable and an agent of prosperity, if given the mandate in 2023.

“As I stand here, I am standing in the premise that I am your servant-governor. I am not saying His Excellency-governor, I am saying servant-governor. I am giving up my comfort to come and give you comfort. I am giving up my luxury to come and give you luxury. I am giving up my education to come and give you education. And I am saying to each and everyone of you, stand by me and let’s change for good. Come 2023, our fortunes will get better in Akwa Ibom state”.

Akanimo thereafter, called on the people to come out en masse to support his vision, as the power to vote resides in the hands of the people, while acknowledging that the power to become the next governor resides with the people.

While addressing the crowd, the DG, Saviour Enyekere debunked rumours that Akan Udofia had stepped down from contesting, saying this was orchestrated by naysayers who were bent on peddling rumours.

“The naysayers said that this was not going to happen. There were rumours all over the place that Akan Udofia has stepped down; that he is not contesting election again. I keep telling people that a day will come when you will hear it from the horse’s mouth.

” Go back to your delegates, tell them that we are with them and will always be with them. Tell them that we are winning the nomination and subsequently the election. Tell them that the APC people are waiting for Udofia to have the ticket and they will collapse APC and then join us. Tell them that other political parties are also willing to join us, if they give Udofia the ticket. Tell them that the entire Akwa Ibom state will prosper in the hands of Udofia as the governor”.

The occasion had in attendance, dignitaries such as the former Speaker and member of the House of Representatives, Barr. Peter Linus Umoh, PDP women leader, Imaobong David Okon, the Director-General of Akan Udofia Campaign Organisation, Saviour Enyekere, party stakeholders, amongst others.
