As part of plans to better the lives of civil servants in Akwa Ibom, the governorship candidate of ACCORD in the State, Engr. Emem Coffie FNICE, COREN, has promised that as from December 2023 when he assumes office as the Governor, he will start the payment of 13th month salary.
Coffie, a COREN registered Engineer-cum- politician, made the promise yesterday in a news conference in Uyo, the State capital.
Answering a reporter’s question, the ACCORD Guber candidate disclosed that he will better the welfare packages and create improved working environment, for workers in the employ of state government as well as the retirees.
In his exact words “I will pay monthly pension first ahead of any other payment. After serving the State for 35 years or after attaining the age of sixty, retirees deserve lots of respect and better treatment. By God’s grace, we will not disappoint our people.”
While informing that he and his party have enjoyed massive support of more than half of registered voters in the State, Engr. Coffie, stressed that security, education, agriculture, human capital development among others will receive attention of his government.
Coffie who assured that Akwa Ibom will witness better and more progressive and development oriented leadership from 2023, urged them to vote credible candidate in ACCORD, “so that we can bring a more fruitful change to all facets of our peoples’ life.”
He used the occasion and urged people of the State and Nigerians at large to embrace peace and love by praying for the coming year to be peaceful and fruitful for all.
“Akwa Ibom is our Jerusalem and so we should seek her greatness and success. Let us shun all acts of disunity, violence and hatred and embrace love, peace and unity and may the great Lord continue to bless this state named after God. On this note, on behalf of my family and our great party, ACCORD in Akwa Ibom State, I wish all our people and all christians merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year in advance.“he said.
