AKWA IBOM ANNOUNCES RESTRICTIONS FOR SANITATION, SATURDAY

Akwa Ibom government said the monthly sanitation exercise will hold on Saturday, March 27, across the 31 Local Government Areas of the State from 7am to 10am.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy; Comrade Ini Ememobong, announced this in a statement today.

 

He said there will be strict restriction of human and vehicular movements during the exercise.

“Special emphasis this month will be on waste evacuation. This is to help keep our environment clean, make our community’s overall health standards better and reduce health hazards that may affect us.

“Consequently, community leaders and all residents are urged to evacuate all waste around their environment.

“All resource persons handling waste evacuation, litter control, sweeping and vegetation are advised to be at their respective routes with their workers in their uniforms for the exercise,” part of the statement read.

Meanwhile, the sanitation exercise will be monitored by the Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA).

The Agency which has Prince Akpan Ikim as the Executive Chairman and nine others as members, is saddled with the responsiblity to collect, transport and manage waste generated by over Six Million (6,000,000) inhabitants of the State.
