Having surpassed both Local and National expectations, the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency, Hon. Prince Ikim, has been captured for an International medal in faraway Canada.
In a letter addressed to the Chairman of the Agency by the International Council for Local Environmental Initiative (ICLEI), World wide and signed by the Secretary General, James Maclean, Ikim is to be decorated with the ICLEI International Green Crystal Ambassador Service Medal for the year 2021 and further admitted into the ICLEI Hall of Fame.
The letter reads in parts, “It is with deep sense of pride that the Committee of ICLEI has found you worthy in deeds and in performance to be conferred with the International Council for Local Environmental Initiative year 2021 Green Crystal Ambassador Service Medal.”
The conferment ceremony, according to the International body, is scheduled to take place on 5th June; 2022 at Burlington Convention Center, 1120 Burloak Drive, Burlington on L7L 6P8, Canada by 2.00pm (EST)
The International Council lauded Hon. Prince Ikim led AKSEPWMA for what the Council described as “Innovative Urban Renewal Programme and the sustained cleanliness performance ratings of the state from 2018 to 2021.”
Recall that Akwa Ibom State has emerged cleanest State in Nigeria for four (4) consecutive times since the coming on board of Hon. Prince Ikim as Chairman of the State Environmental Agency.
Ikim who has won the admiration of many for his exceptional performance in the environmental sector has received several local and national awards and recognitions as well.
He was on November 2nd, 2021 conferred with a National Award in Nigeria as Environmental Health Personality of the year 2021 at an event which took place at Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Abuja.

Ikim was recently quoted to have said, “No body would have known me in the State if not that my Boss, Governor Udom Emmanuel has not only given me the opportunity to serve but has been of tremendous support to the Agency.”
