AKWA IBOM COUNCIL BOSS COMMENDS MEDIA ORGANISATION ON CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The Chairman, Ikono Local Government Council, Akwa Ibom State, Hon. Nyakno Okoibu has commended the efforts of a media organization, the Ikono/Ini Media Professionals on its contribution towards the development of the area through the organization’s Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR.

Okoibu applauded the organization’s leadership for ensuring that the group is registered under the Corporate Affairs Commission as a duly recognized organization in the country.

The award-winning Council Chairman made the commendation when he received in audience a delegation of the Economic Summit planning Committee of the Media Firm in Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, Ikono Local Government Council Secretariat, led by the SA to Gov Udom Emmanuel on Project Monitoring, Mr. Ekomobong Iseh and the President of the organization Mr. Emmanuel Ufon.

The Council Boss appreciated the idea of hosting the first rural Economic Summit in the area and pledged to cooperate with the organizers to see through the success of the upcoming event.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Summit Planning Committee and Secretary of the organization, Mr. Ekomobong Iseh while addressing the Chairman said the organization on the first points of contact in preparation for the event chooses to visit the council boss first as the chief security officer of the area and asked for his go-ahead on the project.

“We are out to use our respective media platform to contribute towards the development of our Federal Constituency, Ikono/Ini, and our people in the area of human capacity building through a Summit like this, just like the publisher of This Day Newspaper and Arise TV is doing. We solicit for your cooperation towards the success of the forthcoming events as the host,” he said.

On his part, the President of the organization, Mr. Emmanuel Ufon thanked the council Chairman for his open-door policy administration while presenting the certificate of registration of the organization to the council chairman as a aduly registered corporation from the Corporate Affairs Commission.

“The registration became necessary for us as a business organization in other not to be perceived as a splinter group away from the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in wish we are all members of the professional union.

“Mr. Chairman, ours is a Limited Liability Company made up of media professionals from Ikono and Ini Local Government Area Extraction with the Board of Trustees, Directors, and Shareholders, there is no media organization that is into electronic or prints media without a legal framework of getting registered first. We exist as a conglomerate with so many lines of communication investment, we intend to run a Television Station that will compete with Channels TV, Arise, TVC and others irrespective of the costs implication.

” If one person in Lagos can secure a station of that magnitude, we in the two local government areas can also contribute to having that here with a radio station that will transmit from Ikono/Ini across states of Nigeria.with our registration, our first approach to this which is the company registration became necessary because we can approach the court of law and challenge anybody who steps in our way,” he said.

The organization indefatigable President said as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, CSR his corporation is out with an unprecedented rural Economic Summit towards discussion aimed at reviving the rural economy for sustainable development in Ikono and Ini Federal Constituency.

“On the forthcoming November, 27th Ikono/Ini Economic Summit, the theme is: Reviving the Rural Economy for Sustainable Development with special focus on Exploring the Economic Potentials and Possibilities in Ikono/Ini – Leveraging on opportunities from government and NGO’s.

Other members of the organization who spoke at the event were, Mr. Etop Umoidem, Mr. Emmanuel Boniface, and Mr. Emmanuel Samson.
