The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State has suspended its local government campaign following the sudden demise of wife of the Governor, Pastor Patience Umo Eno
In a statement signed on Friday by the Publicity Secretary of the party, Edwin Ebiese, the PDP described the loss of the First Lady as a devastating blow, not only to the party but also to the entire state. The statement expressed deep sorrow over her untimely death, noting that the party has been plunged into mourning.
“As a mark of respect for the departed First Lady, we are suspending all local government campaign activities.
“We understand the inconvenience this may cause our supporters and the general public, but we ask for their understanding as we grieve this immense loss,” the party observed.
The Hon. Aniekan Akpan-led party used the occasion to extend heartfelt condolences to Governor Umo Eno, his family, the government, and the people of Akwa Ibom State, praying for divine strength to bear the tragic loss.
