Akwa Ibom: PDP Ward Chairman Resigns, Alleges Threat To Life By Cousin

TheHILL | POLITICS | JULY 22.

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) Ward Chairman (Offot 1) Ward 6, Uyo Local Government Area, Mr. Imoh Mfon Uwah, on Friday resigned from his position, citing frequent intimidation and threat to his life and family members by Prince Enobong Uwah, as part of his reasons for quitting the ‘umbrella party.’

The former PDP Ward Chairman made this known to newsmen in Uyo, in his letter of resignation addressed to the Deputy Chapter Chairman of the party.

However, TheHILL gathered from a close family member that Imoh Uwah and Enobong Uwah are first cousins. Enobong is currently the Chairman, Uyo Capital City Development Authority (UCCDA) and National Secretary of Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), the political campaign group of Pastor Umo Eno, the Governorship candidate of PDP in Akwa Ibom State.

“I write to inform you of my resignation of membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) henceforth.

“My decision to quit is not unconnected with the frequent intimidation and threat to my life and family members by Prince Enobong Uwah after a failed attempt of my suspension from the Party through the Chapter Secretary by the duo of Enobong Uwah and Dr. Uwemedimo Udo,” part of the letter read.

Our reporter’s effort to hear Prince Enobong Uwah’s side of the story, at press time, was unsuccessful as the MPM scribe did not pick a call sent to his airtel line.

TheHILL reports that Mrs. Emah Ebong Etim, the Deputy Chairman, Uyo Urban ward 2 and Mrs Aniema Jombo, Women Leader from the same ward, were among the PDP leaders in Uyo who abandoned the party.
