AKWA IBOM SPEAKER PRESENTS SCORECARD, RESTATES COMMITMENT TO EFFECTIVE REPRESENTATION

To commemorate his two years as Speaker and six years as Member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey on Sunday, gathered his constituents to present his scorecard within the period under review.

As an enlarged event held at his home in Ekim Enen, Uruan LGA, the visibly elated Speaker, while acknowledging God’s grace, thanked stakeholders and the people of Uruan State Constituency for the support he has enjoyed since his into the House of Assembly.

Within six years in the House of Assembly, the Speaker said he has attracted various developmental projects to Uruan, facilitated employment and brought succour to his constituents in various areas.

“We are thanking God today for the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly. By the grace of God, I will continue supporting businesses and empowering people. I will continue to touch the lives of my people positively. I thank all the stakeholders and entire people of Uruan who have been giving us excellent support over these years”, he said.

While appreciating Governor Udom Emmanuel for giving Uruan a sense of belonging, the Assembly helmsman promised to ensure that all ongoing projects in the local government are completed before the current administration elapses.

He stressed the need for public servants to use their offices for the general benefit of the people.

“There is money in politics. Whoever says there is no money is lying. But when you get there, remember the people. If you say there is no money, go back home. That is why I empower people every month. What you see today is not even fifty percent of what we’ve done”, he added.

Some of the stakeholders who spoke at the event, thanked the Speaker for justifying the mandate unanimously given him by the people and sued for more support for him.

At the event, a total of ten beneficiaries were presented with cars, tricycles and mini buses, while 17 men and 15 women received N100,000 each as business support.

At the event also, four students were presented with full scholarship to tertiary institutions.

Similarly other women, including widows drawn from all the thirteen wards in Uruan smiled home with wrappers and a total of Two Million Naira from the Wife of the Speaker, Mrs. Itohowo Bassey.

Dignitaries at the event were the Chairman, Board of Internal Revenue Service, Mr Okon Okon, Chairman of Akwa Ibom Roads and other Infrastructure Maintenance Agency, Dr. Godwin Ntukudeh, former Lawmaker representing Uruan State Constituency, Rt. Hon. (Barr.) Usenobong Akpabio and Chairman of Uruan Local Government Council, Surv. Iniobong Ekpenyong.

 

Others included Pastor Bassey Isin, Hon. Tony Essien, Dr. Eventus Edem, Dr. Mrs Itoro Etim, State PDP Woman Leader, Mrs Mmeme Akpabio, amongst others.
