The Chairman of Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Otuekong Enobong Uwah has again affirmed his administration’s continuous commitment to ensuring that the Uyo metropolis is given a status that befits it and sanity brought to it.
Otuekong Uwah gave the assurance in his office following reports from the routine development control exercise by officials of the Authority.
Reacting to the reports, Uwah maintained that the Authority’s commitment to controlling developments and maintaining the sanctity of the capital city is still in force and cannot be compromised.
He further maintained that the commitment of the Authority is to ensure decency in restoring the City Master Plan as well as discourage willful defacement of the capital city.
The Capital City Boss stressed that the efforts of his administration in restoring the glory of the capital city is in line with the vision of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Development Agenda in building a beautiful, healthy and functional metropolis that is conducive for living.
Uwah in his statement, urged Developers and residents of Uyo to cooperate with the Agency in actualising this vision by avoiding acts that violate development procedures, so that Uyo will not become a slum.
Stressing on the need for residents of the State to key into the orderly development of the Uyo metropolis, Otuekong Uwah cautioned Developers who continue to defy the approved building specifications, blocking of drainages, displaying of goods on walkways and any form of unauthorized structures which according to him, is a distortion to the city Master Plan.
He decried the unyielding attitude of some owners of illegal structures who do not heed earlier warnings of the Authority, maintaining that such impunity will not be tolerated.
Uwah therefore, harped on Compliance in line with approved development plan of the State Government as the Authority is closely monitoring to forestall defacement of the capital city and distortion of the City Master Plan.
