In a bid to address the lingering fuel crisis, scarcity, and sharp practices in Akwa Ibom, the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has constituted a 13-member Petroleum Products Monitoring Committee (PPMC).
The committee, according to a press release issued on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, is chaired by a seasoned oil magnate; Rt. Hon. Godwin Ekpo.
Other members include the Hon. Commissioner for Environment and Mineral Resources, the Hon. Commissioner for Internal Security and Waterways, Sir Victor Etefia, Senior Special Assistant on Petroleum Matters, Mr. Sunny James, Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Mr. Vitalis Godwin, representing NUPENG, and Mr. Vincent Nkan, representing IPMAN.
The committee also includes Mr. Idorenyin Orok, representing the office of the Secretary to the State Government, as well as representatives from the Commissioner of Police, the State Director of Security Services, and the Commandant of the 2 Brigade.
Mrs. Umo Iwok from the Ministry of Information is also a member, while Mrs. Peggy Edoho from the Ministry of Transport serves as the committee’s Secretary.
Meanwhile, the inauguration of the PPMC is scheduled for Friday, September 27, at the EXCO Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Uyo.
