The Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Culture and Tourism has announced the postponement of the First Ibom Annual Boat Regatta and Fishing Festival.
The event, which was scheduled to hold today, Friday, September 27, 2024, has been put on hold due to the passing of Her Excellency, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, the wife of the Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
The Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh, KSJI, made this known in a statement, expressing sadness of the Ministry over the painful loss.
Udoh conveyed the regret of the Ministry for any inconvenience the postponement may have caused to the government, the three host communities, tourism stakeholders, and the general public.
“We deeply regret any inconvenience this postponement may have caused,” the statement read, while also extending heartfelt sympathies to His Excellency, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, and the entire bereaved family at this difficult time.

Many have shared heartfelt tributes to the late First Lady, who was affectionately known as “Eka Iberedem Akwa Ibom” for her strong support of her husband and his ARISE agenda.
