EASTER: Gov. Emmanuel’s wife celebrates with inmates of correctional centers across Sen Dists

 

As the world preach the love of Jesus Christ to humanity at Easter, wife of the Akwa Ibom State governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Martha Udom Emmanuel, has reached out to inmates of correctional centres across the three senatorial districts of the state.

This, she did with a call on them to preach the love of Jesus Christ through their lifestyle and turn a new leave so that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ will not be in vain.

Represented at Eket and Ikot Abasi Correctional Centres by the wife of the commissioner, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Bright Frank Archibong, accompanied by Mrs. Nelly Ukpong wife of former commissioner for health, thanked the Governor’s wife for the privilege of visiting the inmates always in a time like this and commended the inmates for their good conduct.

Presenting the gift items, wife of the Governor stated that Government is committed to the wellbeing of her citizenry, noting that reaching out is the real essence of Easter.

At Uyo Medium Security and Correctional Centre, the wife of Governor was represented by Mrs. Mercy Eka, wife of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, representing Uyo State Constituency accompanied by Chairman, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Council, Hon. Akon Michael while for Ikot Ekpene senatorial district, the team was led by Honorary Senior Special Adviser on Basic Education, Mrs Ekemini Umoh and wife of Ikono Council boss, Mrs Otobong Okoibu.

Responding on behalf of the inmates, Assistant Controller in Charge of Uyo Medium Security Custodial Centre, Mr. Ebereomu Julius Ogueri, Assistant Controller, Ikot Ekpene Correctional Centre, Mr Edet Akpan, Assistant Controller of Corrections, Eket, Mr. George Njoku and Assistant Controller Corrections, Ikot Abasi, Mr. Ifanga Ifanga, expressed appreciation to the wife of the Governor for her magnanimity, motherly disposition and always remembering them.

Items ranging from tubers of yam, bags of rice, beans, garri, jars of palm and groundnut oil, creates of eggs, cows, toiletries, beverages among others.
