Nigeria vice-captain William Troost-Ekong has sustained an injury ahead of next month’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The experienced defender’s Italian club US Salernitana have announced that he will be out for two weeks due to an injury with Nigeria set to face Guinea-Bissau in the AFCON qualifiers
The Serie A club issued a statement on their official website.
“The US Salernitana 1919 communicates that William Troost-Ekong underwent an MRI and CAT scan at the Centro Polidiagnostico Check-Up which showed a fracture of the tibial plateau following a blunt trauma,” a club statement read.
“The athlete has already started the physiotherapy protocol and will carry out new diagnostic checks in two weeks.”
