“Before the prediction, we had started desilting and we are still on it, so residents can be assured that the Akwa Ibom State government under the pragmatic leadership of His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, is seriously on the game, and we are sure that there might be little or no damage here (in Akwa Ibom)” Ikim stated.

He lauded Governor Udom Emmanuel for his proactive gestures in the environmental sector which he noted will protect the state against the prediction of the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency and other bodies which have predicted high level of flood in 2021 in Nigeria.

The AKSEPWMA boss, however, seized the opportunity to warn residents against the attitude of dumping garbage in the drains, building on water-ways, among others.

He further reminded that a special task force team has been inaugurated to monitor and arrest perpetrators of those unwholesome practices capable of tarnishing the meticulous efforts of government in environmental protection.
