…Wants culprits apprehended without delay
The Member who represented Ikono State Constituency in the 5th and 6th Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly; Rt. Hon. Victor Charles Udofia, has condemned in very strong terms, the killing of policemen and destruction of the Ibiaku Ntok Okpo Police Station in Ikono LGA by hoodlums.
The former lawmaker headed committee on Security, Youth and Sports, and has called on the Police and other security agencies to quickly apprehend perpetrators of the heinous crime and ensure that the full weight of the law is applied to bring them to justice.
Recall that hoodlums recently invaded the Divisional Police Office at Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, Ikono Local Government Area and reportedly killed two police officers and set police vans on fire.
A National tabloid reported that a female officer was injured while five vehicles belonging to the police division were set ablaze during the attack which occurred around 3:00 a.m.
Speaking with Newsmen in Uyo, after a meeting with some Ikono Stakeholders, the two term parliamentarian who stressed that Ikono people are peaceful and hospitable, lamented the killing of policemen in the mayhem. He expressed his shocked by the unwarranted attack and urged security personnel to fish out the perpetrators immediately.
His words: “It’s pathetic that the situation in our country has degenerated to something else. Most condemnable by every right thinking Nigerian is the dangerous affront at every turn on the lives of our brothers who are police officers and security agents. These people toil and go through most difficult situations everyday for the safety of our lives and property.
“I am pained by this dastardly act and I urge the security agencies to apply all available resources to bring the hoodlums and whoever is their sponsor or sponsors to justice.”
Rt. Hon. Udofia, however, condoled with the immediate family of the slain officers as well as men of the Akwa Ibom State Police command on the unfortunate incident.
