… Lauds entertainers for loyalty through the years

The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel has commended entertainers in the state for standing by him all through his time as governor.
Mr Emmanuel made the remark on Friday, May 19, 2023 when he declared open the third edition of Ibom Entertainment Week, which commenced with a Gratitude Road Walk from Ibom Plaza to the governor’s office on Wellington Bassey way end.
The event is an initiative of the Completion Agenda administration, and can pass as one of the signature projects which has meaningfully engaged thousands of talents in the entertainment industry.
The weeklong annual festival which mobilizes thousands of Akwa Ibom entertainers, is put together by the Special Assistant to Governor on Entertainment Industry, David Sergeant (Utang Akwa Ibom) to spotlight the sector and support talents that make up the multimillion naira entertainment industry in the state.
The 3rd edition of Ibom Entertainment Week which is scheduled to hold from Friday, May 19 to Sunday, May 21, 2023 is tagged ‘Gratitude Edition’. Hundreds of entertainers took to the streets in solidarity to the governor of the state, led by Utang Akwa Ibom
The entertainers, who trooped to the street in their numbers, re-echoed a message of gratitude to Mr Emmanuel for an all-inclusive government. The governor, who was astonished by the performance of Incredible Band (a group of blind musicians) commended them for their creativity and talent.
‘You all have showed me that loyalty pays’ Gov Emmanuel said while addressing the entertainers, ‘I hope you people will come to visit me at my country home in Awa? he quizzed. ‘I am happy to have supported you through the years and I am sure that the Governor Elect, Pastor Umo Eno will even support you more when sworn into office’ he added.
The number one citizen commended his aide, Utang Akwa Ibom for a job well done, just as he assured him and the entire entertainment structure in the state that they will not be left out in the next phase of his life.
Highlight of the occasion was the presentation of a Honourary Award to the outgoing governor by Mr Sergeant, in company of the special assistant on projects & Ibom Entertainment Week planning committee chairman, Mr Godfada Uko.
