The numerous problems besieging the oil and gas sector will once again be the focus of a two-day stakeholders’ summit put together by a renowned technology and communication giants; SamePage communications.
The Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. King Akpabio, disclosed this, Tuesday, in a press conference in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
According to Mr. Akpabio, the two day stakeholders’ sensitization summit is holding on Thursday, 11th and Friday, 12th March, 2021 at Ibom Hotel and Golf Resort. He said the meeting is targeted at stakeholders in the affected communities in the Southern parts of the country.
“All the host communities and stakeholders will have the opportunity to engage, and then we will also sensitize them about all the potential in the oil and gas sector,” Akpabio divulged.
He continued: “Our primary concern is to see how we can change the narrative of our people and migrate them from a typical rain-seeker-rain-collector mentality to a player in the oil and gas sector.”
The summit, which has the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Power and Petroleum Development as major partner, will have in attendance; the State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources; Chief Timipre Sylva as well as the Group Managing Director of NNPC; Mele Kyari.
Others include: the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Directors and key officers in the Petroleum Ministry at the federal and State level, the academia, relevant industry players, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), security agencies and representatives of host-communities of petroleum; oil and gas infrastructure, as well as community-based organisations (CBOs), who will brainstorm to seek for realistic solutions to the problems in the all important sector.
