Guber 2023: Why A’Ibom people will vote massively for OBA, not reward good with evil – Inyang-Eyen

People of Esit Eket, Eket Senatorial District and Akwa Ibom in general have been urged not to forget the huge and selfless contributions made by Obong Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA), towards the emergence of the incumbent governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, in 2014 and 2019, even when he had massive support of the people to have scuttled the governor’s chances on both occasions.

The senatorial candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) for Eket Senatorial District, Mr. Ephraim Akparawa Inyangeyen, gave the reminder while speaking at the governorship campaign rally of Obong Bassey Albert at the YPP Secretariat, Ekpene Obo, Esit Eket local government area, today.

Appreciating the mammoth crowd at the event for their collective support and strong belief in OBA to change the story of Akwa Ibom State when he becomes governor in 2023, Inyangeyen said Akwa Ibom people who are generally known for honesty cannot afford to reward with evil the good things the senator has done for Gov. Udom Emmanuel and Eket Senatorial District in particular, especially his humility, love and patriotism in conceding his clear positions which enabled governor Emmanuel to secure victories for his two terms as governor.

“In all ramifications of people-oriented service and leadership for years now, OBA has demonstrated trust, capacity and competence in all positions he has held. He has touched lives and communities across the State. That has won him the love and trust of Akwa Ibom people who are rallying behind him today to become their governor to do more”, Inyangeyen stated.

Going further down history lane, Inyangeyen recalled how OBA had stepped down and supported a son of Eket Senatorial District, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, to become a governor, maintaining that 2023 was pay back time to OBA for that great act goodness and patriotism.

He said: “Even though some persons have tried in vain to deny that history, in 2014 and 2019, OBA lovingly stepped down and collapsed his structures for the emergence of Udom Emmanuel. Now is the turn of Eket Senatorial District to return that goodness. Besides, OBA is coming with unparalleled antecedents as a former commissioner and distinguished senator, love for Akwa Ibom people, and realistic promises that shall launch Akwa Ibom into a new dawn”.

Investigations have indicated that one of the reasons Inyangeyen walked out on the government of the day was his staunch stand for justice and equity on the established principle of power rotation in the State, which clearly favoured Itu-Ibiono federal constituency that OBA hails from.

On his senatorial ambition, Inyangeyen said he will be going to the senate to change the paradigm of representation in Eket Senatorial District because he has all it takes to make a difference. Hence, he implored the people to vote for him than for a candidate who will go to the National Assembly only to be swallowed up.

Present at the event were the State chapter leadership of YPP, including the chairman, Apostle Nnyeneime Andy; some members of AkwaubokAbasi Campaign Organization; other YPP candidates including the State, Mr. Usoro Akpan Usoh; that of the House of Representatives, Joe Mbong, etc.
