JUST IN: Celebrated Uniuyo Don, Nsikak Idiong Now Associate Prof

 

One of the most celebrated University Dons in the University of Uyo; Dr. Nsikak Solomon Idiong, has been promoted to the rank of Associate Professor in Political Communication and Media Studies.

According to Mr. Abasifreke Idiong, a renowned Digital Media consultant and lecturer in the University, the Vice Chancellor of the Federal Government owned tertiary school; Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, made the pronouncement on Wednesday at the 124th meeting of Senate.

The promotion of Idiong PhD., is backdated to 2017.

Dr. Nsikak Idiong, who was honoured with the Officer of the Order of the Wesleys (OOW), by the Methodist Church Nigeria (MCN) in 2019, is the current Head, Department of Journalism, University of Uyo.

He specializes in political communication, journalism and new media.

His doctoral thesis at the University of Uyo explored the interface between the World Wide Web and political communication in sub-Saharan Africa.

An afficionado of rhetoric and good writing, his research has been published in highly esteemed academic journals in the broad field of communication and media studies, and has a solid reference in Google scholar.

Dr Idiong is a member of several professional bodies, including the African Council for Communication Education, the Eastern Communication Association, and the Speech Communication Association, the latter two of which are headquartered in the USA.

A scholar whose writing frequently receives encomiastic reviews, Idiong has garnered several awards throughout his academic career and is cited as the First African to receive the Joel Cartun Scholarship of the Electronic Document Systems Foundation, USA.
