The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Akwa Ibom State chapter has elected Edwin Ebiese, popularly known as ‘MC Governor,’ as its new Publicity Secretary.
The Okobo born engineer by profession and a renowned Master of Ceremonies who has handled numerous high-profile events over the years, was unanimously elected during the party’s State Congress held at the Uyo Township Stadium on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
In what many political commentators have hailed as a seamless and well-organized process, Edwin Ebiese, a former Head of Programmes at XL 106.9 FM, officially assumed the role of Publicity Secretary, taking over from the outgoing Mr. Borono Bassey.
Shortly after his emergence, Ebiese took to his official Facebook page to express gratitude to the Leader of the PDP in Akwa Ibom and Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, the State Chairman, Hon. Aniekan Akpan, and party delegates. He also reaffirmed his commitment to the ideals of the ‘umbrella party.’
In his post titled, ‘Consolidating Legacies, Building a Brighter Future’, the new spokesman of the PDP in Akwa Ibom wrote: “I, Edwin Ebiese, am honored to address you today as the newly elected Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State. I am humbled by the unanimous trust placed in me by delegates from all wards and local government chapters during our elective congress conducted earlier today at the Uyo Township Stadium.”
He also paid tribute to his predecessor, acknowledging the solid foundation laid by Mr. Bassey, and pledged to continue working towards the growth and success of the party.
‘Akpan Mma Udọbod’ emphasized the need for unity and focused leadership under the leadership of Governor Umo Eno and the PDP State Chairman, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Aniekan Akpan, particularly as the party moves towards the crucial October elections.
“Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Gov. Umo Eno, and our Chairman, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Akpan, we will deepen the democratic roots of our party, ensuring victory at the polls,” ‘MC Governor stated in his address.
However, TheHILL believes that with his background, vast experience, and unwavering commitment, along with his proven dedication to the cause of the PDP, Edwin Ebiese is poised to significantly enhance the party’s communication strategy and public engagement. This is especially crucial as the political clock ticks towards the local government elections in the state, slated for October 5 this year.
