Nat’l Nanny Recognition Week: NIGERIANS HAIL OTIZ KEEPERS FOR SUSTAINED AWARENESS ON WELFARE OF DOMESTIC STAFF

The National Nanny week was rounded up last weekend with accolades, and encomiums trailing the organisers of the Event OTIZ Keepers Domestic Staffing with head office in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The weeklong event held between 19-25 of September with the theme celebrating domestic workers in Nigeria witnessed massive media advocacy to entrance the plight of domestic staff across the nation.

The Managing Director/CEO of OTIZ keepers Mrs. Ngozichukwu Etuk a renowned Hurnan resources maven and career coach said the National Nanny recognition week is a sincere way of recognizing and celebrating the unrecognised domestic workers in our various homes.

Etuk one of the foremost Nigeria business coach and management consultant explained that behind every successful home and career woman is a great Nanny who tirelessly care for the domestic jobs at home while she focuses on her career path.

“This week was set aside globally for domestic workers, for us in Nigeria we should dignify their services for economic advancement of domestic workers”.

We at OTIZ keepers are creating awareness for families societies and government to acknowledge and appreciate the good job, the domestic worker are doing in our homes.

‘Our own domestic workers are well appreciated, we give various form of motivation to our nannies and some of them also get long service Awards.

‘This year we have intensified the awareness by mounting bill boards, using print, electronics and social media to reach the general public on the need to appreciate the wonderful jobs our domestic servants are doing in our homes.

Etuk explained that there is actually no difference between domestic work and corporate work as both are jobs except the difference in location, “Hours are put in exchange for salary, and its high time we start giving them the recognition they deserve”. We want to hit one million supporters, I want every Nigerian to become a voice for the voiceless we must appreciate those who work behind the scene for us to attend to our schedules.

In reaction to the successful hosting of the week in Akwa Ibom, a cross section of Nigerians in their comments on social media hail the Chief Executives Officer of OTIZ keepers for her tireless efforts in securing a better future for domestic workers in the state and country at large.

OTIZ has over the years source train and employ several youths in various homes where they work and earn decent living while planning for greater future.

Several of their domestic staff have risen to become graduates and entrepreneurs and also giving back to the society.
Those earlier interviewed by our Reporter had expressed immense gratitude to the Chief Executive Officer of OTIZ Keepers by coming to their rescue by picking them up from various rural communities to the city where they are employed to better their living standard.

Mrs Ngozichukwu Etuk in an earlier interview explained that the company go beyond recruiting the domestic staff for people to training them on how to cope in their new hopes after a thorough profile of their personality.

She also highlighted that the firm insists on a reasonable salary for the domestic staff, good resting place and zero tolerance to any form of abuse or maltreatment.
