Nigeria At 63: Etim Ekpo Chair Hails Nigerians, Congratulates Pst Eno On Tribunal Victory

The Executive Chairman, Etim Ekpo Local Government Council, Hon. Imeh Paul Afia has expressed optimism that with God Almighty, Nigeria will achieve greatness despite its current challenges.

The Council boss made this known on Sunday in Etim Ekpo LGA at an occasion to mark the 63rd Independence Anniversary of Nigeria.

Hon. Afia, who read the President’s speech at the occasion, noted that, the theme of this year’s celebration, “Nigeria at 63: Renewed Hope for Unity and Prosperity,” was apt and very appropriate, saying the theme reminds every Nigerian at home and in the Diaspora to put aside their personal interests and work for the common good of the Country in a united manner.

He encouraged Nigerians not to allow the challenges of the moment to stop us from highlighting and thanking God for the tremendous successes we have achieved over the years.

While congratulating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno and all Nigerians for commemorating another independence anniversary, Hon. Afia while praying for the souls of the fallen heroes who fought for the independent of Nigeria, assured of his people’s continued cooperation and support for Government.

Meanwhile, the Etim Ekpo Council boss in a show of his support and loyalty to the PDP-led administration, has extended his warmest congratulations to Governor Umo Eno on his resounding victories at the election tribunal.

Recall that the Election Petition Tribunal on Friday struck out the petition of the Candidate of the Young Progressives Party, YPP, against Governor Umo Eno, Candidate of the PDP for lack of merit. The same tribunal sitting in Uyo, last week, also struck out the petitions of the gubernatorial candidates of the Accord party, ADC, APC, NNPP and several others.

In a chat with newsmen, the Etim Ekpo council boss expressed his delight and confidence in the governor’s leadership abilities, affirming that the tribunals’ rulings reaffirmed the people’s choice and upheld the democratic process.

Hon. Imeh Paul Afia, celebrated in his Local Government Area for his outstanding leadership prowess to end the hitherto security issues in Etim Ekpo, wasted no time in extending his heartfelt congratulations to the governor.

He assured Governor Eno that the Etim Ekpo Local Government council will continue replicate his style of leadership and as well collaborate with all his policies and programmes as encapsulated in the ARISE Agenda for the benefit of Etim Ekpo people.

In another development, Royal Fathers in Etim Ekpo over the weekend, had poured encomiums on the State chief Executive for his compassionate action in providing thousands of bags of rice as palliatives to offset the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

They made their position known during the distribution of the palliative held at the Council Secretariat, Utu Etim Ekpo.

The traditional rulers who all came out in their numbers across all the villages in the area, praised the generosity of the governor and as well as transparency of the Council boss, Hon Afia in the distribution process.

Referring to the Governor as a compassionate leader who is looking out for the well-being of the people, the royal fathers and other beneficiaries who spoke with our Reporter in Utu Etim Ekpo, noted that the governor’s gesture will go a long way in helping the people during this difficult time.
