“The outgoing administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel will be remembered for so many projects and programmes, but as an Environmentalist, I will remember the governor for investing in the environment, creating sanity and promoting healthy living in the State”
The above statement was made Wednesday by Mrs. Mfreke EdidiongAbasi, a passerby, on Atiku Abubakar Way Roundabout by Idoro Road, Uyo, while responding to questions from newsmen working in the Info Unit of AKSEPWMA.
EdidiongAbasi, who said she is a graduate of Environmental Science and Resource Management from the National Open University of Nigeria, was full of eulogies to Governor Udom Emmanuel and his superlative performance in the Environment sector.
She also commended Obong Prince Ikim, as well as the able-bodied men from Akwa Ibom State Environmental Protection and Waste Management Agency (AKSEPWMA) for constantly cutting grasses on the median, desilting gutters, evacuating waste, among others, said, the spread of germs and diseases associated with dirty and filthy environment have been prevented as a result of maintaining a cleaner environment in Akwa Ibom.
Mrs. EdidiongAbasi, used the occasion and advised residents to support efforts of government by shunning every act of illegal disposal of refuse in drainages while urging all to dispose their sewage properly to prevent outbreaks of infectious diseases.
Meanwhile, the untiring men of AKSEPWMA today relocated temporarily to Atiku Abubakar Way Roundabout by Idoro Road, where they desilted drainages in the area and environs, to prevent flooding when it rains.
