The National Ex-Officio of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Obong Paul Ekpo, popularly known as OPE has received a go ahead for his 2023 senatorial aspiration as he met with his Kinsmen and the entire people of Nkana community in Etinan local government area of Akwa Ibom State.
Paul Ekpo, a former two-term State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Akwa Ibom State chapter and emeritus Chairman of all the PDP Chairmen in Nigeria pledged to serve the Senatorial District diligently should they stand by him to represent Akwa Ibom North-East at the red chambers, Abuja.
Paul Ekpo while on a consultative visit to Nkana Community at the Civic Centre, officially informed his people of his intention to run for the Uyo Senatorial District race come 2023.
“I didn’t come to visit my community on my own directive, rather the directive of the party, PDP, which supersedes every other directives. I am here to first of all intimate you of my intention to run for Akwa Ibom North-east Senatorial election, and to solicit your approval and support in this regard” Paul noted
Ekpo encouraged the community and PDP faithfuls to continue in prayers to God for him to succeed in his senate ambition as God will not put them to shame.
Speaking at the occasion, the member representing Etinan State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Barr Aniefiok Dennis pointed out that OPE has served the state in different capacities especially as former two-term State Chairman of PDP who have, during elections worked for the success of many people and the PDP. He urged the people of Nkana Community to support their son, noting that the support will in turn further development in the community in particular and Uyo Senatorial District in general.
Speaking also, the Village Head of Nkana, Eteidung A. M. Akpanobong in his words of acceptance and encouragement concluded that before Obong Paul Ekpo came to speak out his intention, that everything had been concluded in the realm of spirit as every good thing always follows the right path. He added that as the Village Head of the Community where Obong Paul Ekpo hails from, that himself and his council has given him approval to go for the senatorial seat, as the seat shall not be against him in any form.
“OPE has been pushing and talking on people’s behalf to succeed, so I call on the council of Nkana Village both in Heaven and on earth to come and stand with him to succeed in the election and become the senator in Uyo Senatorial District”, he prayed.
Also speaking at the occasion, elder
statesman, Otuekong Sunny Jackson Udoh, Christ Ambassador, Bishop Dr. Andrew Unwanta, the youths and women through their leaders poured encomium on Obong Paul, approved and encouraged him to run for Uyo Senatorial District race as the God that never fails, shall see him through.
The event featured; declaration of intent for Uyo Senatorial District seat by Obong Paul Ekpo, offering of OPE for Nkana village council and prayers by the Village Head, group heads and entire Nkana for their son, Obong Paul Ekpo amongst others.
