PDP Finally Opens Up: Ikono Council Boss, Okoibu Not Suspended

…Reveals how Signatures of Ward Exco Members were forged in a purported suspension letter

Our sources have confirmed that the rumours and speculations regarding the alleged suspension of the Chairman, Ikono Local Government Council, Hon. Nyakno Uwemedimo Okoibu, are false and were spread by political opponents seeking to undermine his reputation.

In a video which is now trending on the social media platforms, Ward Executive officers in Ikono Ward 1 stated unequivocally that at no time did they contemplate or discuss the suspension of the Council Boss.

Seen on the video were: Ward 1 Secretary of the party; Gabriel Ekanem Ekpenyong, Treasurer; Aniefiok Gabriel Okoko and Legal Adviser; Akwaima Effiong Bassey.

Others were: Youth Leader; Anietie Eyo Akpan, Mr. Edet Okon Bassey, Mrs Happiness Monday Ntokon among others.

The PDP leaders in Ikono Ward 1 noted that they have no knowledge about the alleged suspension letter and never authorized anybody whatsoever to generate such mischievous letter on their behalf.

The True Story:

In the video, the Ward Legal Adviser; Akwaima Effiong Bassey, on behalf of other party leaders in the ward divulge what transpired.

His words: “On September 3rd of this year, a meeting was called by the Ward Chairman (Mr. Saviour Nyah). During the meeting, which was held at his residence, he apologized for not meeting with the entire ward Exco since after the general elections. He entertained us and we took the opportunity to express our frustration with his continued deduction of 500 Naira from the 5 Thousand Naira stipend the Governor had been giving us.

“The Ward Chairman (Mr. Nyah) who alleged the deductions were to cater for what he termed ‘transportation’, apologized for his misdeeds and promised to never repeat them.

“It is important to note that all our meetings have attendance lists, which include our names, designations, and signatures. Therefore, we were shocked and dismayed to hear later that the purpose of our meeting was allegedly to suspend the Executive Chairman of Ikono, Hon. Nyaknno Okoibu.

“Now, the attendance list for a meeting in which we discussed the deduction of our monthly stipends was later misused to implicate all of us in an alleged plot to suspend Hon. Okoibu. However, we never discussed or agreed to such devilish plan, and the claim is entirely false. We want to make it clear that we are not responsible for this fabricated allegation.

“On behalf of all the PDP Exco in Ward 1, I would like to emphatically state that we did not meet to discuss, let alone enact, the suspension of Hon. Okoibu. He is a man of integrity and kindness, and has always acted in the best interests of the good people of Ikono. These false claims are not only untrue, but also deeply unfair to his character and reputation.”

In another development, the Ward Executive Council of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ikono Ward 1, has passed a vote of confidence on the Council boss; Hon. Okoibu, for his many achievements in securing the safety and prosperity of the local government area.

The Exco praised his efforts to empower the people, his unwavering support for the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, and his enthusiastic participation in all PDP activities in the ward and support for the party members, even as they affirmed that that Hon. Okoibu has the leadership skills and vision to continue serving the people of Ikono.

“The PDP Ward Exco has expressed its utmost confidence in Hon. Okoibu’s commitment to the welfare and advancement of the people of Ikono. We commend his unwavering dedication to the success of the A.R.I.S.E Agenda of our dear Governor, and we believe that his leadership and vision will continue to benefit the entire local government area,” said the leaders.
