Pharmacists Unite for a healthier Akwa Ibom

 

The Pharmaceutical Society Of Nigeria (PSN), Akwa Ibom State Branch has rounded up activities for the 2022 Pharmacy Week with the resolution to improve health care delivery in the state.

“Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world” was the theme of this year’s Pharmacy Week.

The theme highlighted pharmacy’s positive impact on health around the world and aimed to further strengthen solidarity among the profession.

For a successful year, a thanksgiving service was held at Qua Iboe Church, Obio Etoi, Uyo. That was followed by road walk, and novelty football match with The Police Machine football team.

The PSN Akwa Ibom also engaged in mass media sensitization on better health care delivery.

A reach out program at Pharmacists council of Nigeria , South South zonal office was attended by pupils from Dove and MONEF kiddies schools.

During the week, Pharmacists elected new executive to pilot the affairs of the Akwa Ibom State Branch of Pharmaceutical Society Of Nigeria (PSN).

The High Point of Pharmacy Week 2022 was the luncheon and fund raising for the drug information center project on going in Uyo.

According the PSN Akwa Ibom, the Drug Information Center when completed will provide accurate and current evidence based information on drugs in order to promote rational drug therapy which includes safe and effective prescribing of medicines by healthcare providers and the efficient use of medicines by patients and consumers.

Present during the week were the commissioner, Ministry Of Health Akwa Ibom State, Prof Augustine Umoh , the Commissioner, Ministry Of Agriculture, Dr Offiong Offor , Director of Nursing services Akwa Ibom State, as well as other dignitaries.
