*** Promises to eradicate poverty in Oruk Anam within months

It was all joy, excitement and praises as Senator representing Akwa Ibom North East, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan today inaugurated a life-touching project built by one of his staunch supporters, the former Vice Chairman of Oruk Anam Local Government, Abasiama Etukakpan.
Etukakpan, who was recently impeached because of his support for OBA, built market stalls for his community, Nung Ikot Udoffiong.
Addressing the people, the senator said his soon-to-be-lunched economic blue-print covers the specific needs and mainstay of Oruk Anam, which is agriculture.
He promised to eradicate poverty in the Oruk Anam community within twelve months through deliberate focus on agricultural development.
“I cannot claim that I will make you a millionaire of I have never given you N100,000. When they come, tell them to show you their antecedents”, he said.
As for road construction, he said that was an expected regular responsibility of government, hence his plan to do at least 100 kilometres of roads in each local government.
While welcoming the guests to his village, Etukakpan said the project was made possible by OBA, hence he designated the stalls as one of the Senator’s numerous projects.
He assured his people that Senator Akpan will change the face of Akwa Ibom State as governor.
Chairman on the occasion, Ubong Brownson, said OBA shocked him in Abuja when he paid unscheduled visit to the senator with a request to be connected with a government official.
According to him, he expected OBA to scoff at him since he dressed in tatters, rather, he received him well.
One of the highlights was the presentation of awards of excellence to some
prominent persons, including OBA, Akparawa Ephraim Inyang , Sir Emem Akpabio, Arch-Bishop Andrew Unwanta (for Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Organisation).
The women of the community donated foodstuffs to the wife senator, Pastor (Mrs) Imaobong Albert Akpan.
