In recognition of the Akwa Ibom State Government’s towering achievements in the environmental sub-sector through her Agency on Environmental Protection and Wastes Management, AKSEPWMA, the Chairman of the Agency, Obong (Hon.) Prince Ikim has been conferred with the prestigious Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Distinguished Leadership Award as GARKUWA MATASAN AREWA NAJERIYA by Northern Youth Progressive Forum (NYPF).
Leading the delegation for the award presentation, the Vice President of the forum, Dr. Abdulmalik Jamil said that Obong Ikim was spotted afar for the award in recognition of his impeccable charisma, professional dispensation, and service to God and humanity. He described Ikim as a bridge-builder who has been a worthy ambassador of the youths, an example that youths can do well for the country if given the opportunity.
“If you can be spotted from afar, your environment and the world is definitely watching you and even though the reward for service to humanity comes from God, it’s important for us here on earth to recognize and appreciate deserving and distinguished people amongst us as a way of encouraging others. We award but God rewards,” the group’s spokesman noted during the conferment ceremony that happened at the conference Hall of AKSEPWMA, Uyo.
While praying that God who made no mistake in bringing the various components of the country together, the Platinum award recipient, Obong Prince Ikim frowned at possible elements of disintegration, urging Nigerians to refrain from fanning the embers of ethnicity and sowing seeds of discord.
The Chairman who welcomed the delegation to Akwa Ibom State, where he described as “the Cleanest State in Nigeria”, charged the leadership of Northern Youths Progressive Forum, to preach the message of peace, love and tolerance, saying that’s what the country needs to overcome her present challenges.
While pledging support to all peace engineering activities of the forum, Ikim thanked the NYPF for choosing him out of millions of Akwa Ibomites for the award and went on to dedicate the Award to Gov. Udom Emmanuel for giving him the opportunity to serve and every peace-loving Akwa Ibomite and promised to use the award and forum to lend his voice in preaching the message of peace and unity to Nigerians, irrespective of their ethnic group.
