An Akwa Ibom State based foremost socio-political organization known as United Ibom Peoples’ Movement (UIPM) has reiterated her stand to lend necessary supports to ensure that the governorship aspiration of Mr. Akan Okon comes to fruition in 2023.
This was contend in a communique issued and jointly signed by Leaders and Stakeholders of the Organization during an extraordinary Executive Meeting held yesterday, Wednesday 12th, 2022 at Ornamental Hotel, Mbak Itam III, Itu Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.
At the meeting, the group equally reaffirmed her backing to zoning of Akwa Ibom governorship position to Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency in the soon coming gubernatorial election.
They also used the opportunity to appraised the developmental strides of the present administration of Mr. Udom Emmanuel and commended the Governor for his superlative performance in the State, particularly in the areas of “human capital development, aviation, industrialization, massive road construction projects, other infrastructural development in the areas of healthcare, education, agriculture, and the overall development of the State”; while appreciating his “pragmatic disposition and development-driven leadership” which according to him “have opened up Akwa Ibom State to the world, and made the state an investors’ haven in the last 6 years”.
While appreciating Gov. Emmanuel for the sustainable peace and harmonious co-existence that Akwa Ibom people have experienced and enjoyed in the last 6 years, the group urged all hands to be on deck to sustain the current peace Initiative of the Gov. Udom Emmanuel in the state.
The Communique read in parts;
“…we resolvesd as follows;”
“Reaffirmed stand on zoning of Governorship seat of Akwa Ibom State to Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency and Itu Local Government Area in particular comes 2023; and qually reaffirmed commitment and supports to the GOVERNORSHIP ASPIRATION OF MR. AKAN OKON, the current Commissioner, Ministry of Economic Development and Ibom Deep Seaport. Nothing that the Organization SHALL NEVER in anyway surrender her structures and supports to anyone else apart from MR. AKAN OKON”.
“That the Organisation is aware of nefarious activities of some people who goes about luring some unsuspecting members to use the name of the organisation to drum support for a certain governorship Aspirant.That the organisation warns in strong term the use of the name or her logo for any purpose whatsoever outside the propagation of Akan Okon’s Ambition”.
“Called on all Akwa Ibomites within and outside the Country to key into the vision and mission of United Ibom Peoples’ Movement (UIPM) as to ensure a better future for the people of the State”.
Meanwhile, the organization has warned some unscrupulous elements and detractors to stop directly or indirectly using of the group’s name to campaign or canvas support for any Governorship aspirant, aside for Mr. Akan Okon.
