The Governing Board Chairman, Mrs Lauretta Onoche, has stated that the Governing Board of NDDC is poised to deliver effective service to Niger Delta people.
Onochie said this during a courtesy call on the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, at Government House, Uyo, yesterday.
She thanked the Governor for the warm hospitality accorded the Board, assuring him that the Board is determined to reposition for effective service delivery.
Onochie pledged that the Board will serve the interest of the entire region particularly the youths, harping on training to enhance their employability.
She pointed out that the Commission will go beyond political party lines to collaborate and partner all stakeholders irrespective of political affiliation.
She therefore appealed for co-operation between stakeholders and the Commission to enable it deliver, without compromising the optimism and expectations of Niger Delta people. And, specifically asked for frequent advise from Governor Emmanuel, who is a member of the Board’s advisory team.
Earlier, the Akwa Ibom Governor, Mr. Udom Emnanuel called on the Governing Board of NDDC to ensure that its vision and mission of establishing the Commission are actualized.
The governor, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, averred that as the largest oil producing state, Akwa Ibom deserves a depot for petroleum products as well as more federal presence.
He called on the Commission to expedite action on completing numerous ongoing projects, awarded by the Commission, spread across the state.
Governor Emmanuel assured the Commission of the state’s collaboration to ensure that objectives and goals are achieved. He however challenged the leadership of the Board to work in unity to restore the image of the federal government in the region.
Also present at the courtesy visit were the Managing Director of NDDC, Chief Samuel Ogbokwu; Executive Director, Finance, Major-General Charles Airhiavbere (rtd); Executive Director of Projects, Charles Ogunmola, Honourable Commissioner representing the host state – Akwa Ibom, Dr. Emem Wilcox Wills and others.
