Members of the Akwa Ubok Abasi Campaign Council have been described as integral part of the rescue mission to reposition Akwa Ibom State for greatness.
Senator Bassey Albert Akpan (OBA) who is the gubernatorial candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Akwa Ibom State made this remark during the inauguration of the Council on Sunday, September 18, 2022.
“We are the people that the Lord has helped. We are going to operate on the ‘3Rs’ : to Rescue Akwa Ibom, to Reconcile Akwa Ibom truly back to God and to Reposition Akwa Ibom for greatness. This is a state named after God. And from May, 2023, greatness and unity shall be restored”.
“I stand here as the one God has chosen to assure you that we are taking over government in the coming few months. There shall be no longer be hunger, no economic strangulation in Akwa Ibom State. We are not coming to lord over Akwa Ibom people; we are coming to serve with humility”, the guber hopeful assured.
The campaign council comprise various departments under the supervision of directors of Contact and Mobilization, Logistics and Planning, Research and Data, Legal, Finance, Communication, Security, Inter and Intra Party, Lobbying, Welfare and Entertainment, etc.
The local government campaign councils were equally inaugurated.
In acceptance speech, on behalf of all the council members, the Chairman of the Campaign Council, Sir Emem Akpabio, assured all that the OBA will lead the state from 2023 to the benefit of the majority.
“Come, May 29, 2023, our own, our son, our pride, OBA will mount the saddle as the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State. These are the men, the women and the youths of Akwa Ibom who have decided to sacrifice their time, energy and resources so that God’s will is done in Akwa Ibom through OBA. You are supporting a man who knows the problem of the youth because he is among them. He sits on the floor to know the problems of different people in order to assist them. That man is OBA”.
He thanked OBA for the trust in them and said that they will ensure that all voters in the state are reached from door to door to gather support for him.
In his vote of thanks, the Director – General of the Campaign Council, Pastor Sunny Ibuot thanked all, especially the state chairman of YPP, Apostle Nyeneime Andy, chairman of Campaign Council, Sir Emem Akpabio and all others for their selfless service.
He made the assurance that the entire campaign structure will work with all strength to bring in a people – oriented government in Akwa Ibom State come 2023.
High point of the event was a session of prayers for the members of the campaign council by the State Chairman of YPP, Apostle Nyeneime Andy.
