Mkpat Enin Council Boss Lady Bassey Wins Multiple National Awards

The Acting Chairman, Mkpat Enin Local Government Council, Lady Mercy Bassey is among the Nigerian local government chairmen who will be receiving the 2022 Nigerian Local Government Chairmen Merit Award (LOGMA).

The development was contained in a letter to Lady Bassey signed by Bayode Ojo, project coordinator, LOGMA. The award ceremony is scheduled to hold soonest in Abuja.

In the letter, Mr Ojo disclosed that Lady Mercy won the merit award for her outstanding performance despite serving in acting capacity especially her achievements in education and Infrastructure.

Mr Ojo noted that the award committee had thoroughly assessed Lady Bassey’s leadership and was impressed by her performance, adding that their records show that Lady Bassey has made exceptional and outstanding contributions in grassroots development.

“Your commitment to service delivery and high sense of accountability, despite dwindling financial resources to the council and security challenges in the country, are very commendable.

“You have demonstrated responsible and accountable political leadership that has made positive impact on the lives of ordinary people in your local government and Nigeria in general. Particularly, your outstanding achievement in the areas of education and infrastructure.

“This award is therefore packaged to celebrate excellence and enhance your present and future political endeavours,” Mr Ojo noted.

The letter further disclosed that the Nigerian Senate President, Ahmed Lawan is expected as the Special Guest of Honour, while the Minority Leader, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ndudi Elumelu will chair the event.

Since assuming office as acting chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government, Lady Mercy Bassey has brought her leadership finesse to bear and has recorded laudable achievements in education, infrastructure, consultative and inclusive governance, etc.

LOGMA is an annual merit award conferred on outstanding local government chairmen in Nigeria.
