As the count down to the PDP primaries draws closer, more statutory delegates of the Party in Ikot Ekpene federal constituency have pledged to queue behind Prince Mendy Archibong.
A cross section of statutory delegates from Ikot Ekpene, Essien Udim, Obot Akara local government area who met with the aspirant penultimate week said they are confident that Prince Archibong will represent them well in the National Assembly, will initiate and attract projects and programmes that will cause a positive turnaround of their economy.
The delegates who took turns to acknowledge and thank Prince Archibong for the numerous community interventions he has carried out across the federal constituency through the Prince Archibong Life Foundation, said Ikot Ekpene federal constituency was in need of a new crop of representative who can selflessly shoulder the piling development needs of the people.
The party officers urged stakeholders of the PDP in Ikot Ekpene federal constituency to adopt and endorse Prince Mendy Archibong as the preferred candidate for the federal constituency seat.
Prince Archibong, a philanthropist and leading contender for the Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara, has received massive community support since he indicated interest to contest for the federal constituency seat.
The industrialist and founder of Prince Archibong Life Foundation, a non-governmental organisation working to eradicate extreme poverty through investments in education, agriculture, women and youth development as well as Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, has said he is in the race to create wealth.
Community stakeholders have said Prince Archibong has demonstrated enormous selfless service to communities through his foundation.
Recently, the Paramount Ruler of Obot Akara, HRM Okuku Uwa Umo Adiaka, recommended Prince Archibong for the Ikot Ekpene federal constituency seat.
Okuku Adiaka while presenting Archibong to indigenes of Ikpe Mbak Eyop in Obot Akara said, Prince Archibong can be trusted.
“I am telling the people of Ikot Ekpene/Essien Udim/Obot Akara conference district (federal constituency) to trust this one (Prince Mendy Archibong).
“Prince has demonstrated love his for community with the little wealth he has gotten by God’s grace; he has shared it with the people, if he has greater grace, he will help more people”, Okuku Adiaka noted.
The Chairman of Obot Akara local government area, Lady Agnes Udoenwewen, had earlier rated Prince Archibong as the most community friendly aspirant who deserves the support of the people.
Lady Udoenwewen described Prince Archibong as “a helper” recalling the many community development interventions carried by his foundation, (Prince Archibong Life Foundation) particularly partnering with her to give agric grant to 50 women in Obot Akara.
The Council boss also lauded Prince Archibong for duly recognising existing political hierarchy in Obot Akara, and wished him well.

Uwem Ita Etuk consults stakeholders in Ibesikpo Asutan
A frontline aspirant for Uyo Senatorial District, Hon. Uwem Ita Etuk, last weekend, consulted stakeholders in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, as part of his visit to all the local government areas within the senatorial district.
Addressing stakeholders at the PDP Chapter Office, Prince Uwem Etuk thanked all the party stalwarts for finding time to attend the consultation session, saying he had to make sure he did the needful to fulfil all requirements.
He specifically acknowledged the delegates for their support, pledging that he would render effective representation that Uyo Senatorial District will be proud of, if given the opportunity.
The Uyo senatorial aspirant said he was tired of not being able to help people with challenges regarding entrepreneurial development, and therefore, promised that his representation will mainstream the people into the economic programmes of the federal government.
The agriculturist who said he would put plans in place for agropreneurs for the senatorial district which will better the lives of the people, vowed to forego his four years emoluments to see to the fruition of his plans, if that became necessary.
Speakers who took turns to eulogize the one- time State PDP Chairman, said the aspiration of Hon. Etuk represents a journey of a true party man.
The speakers who noted his commitment to the party affairs, assisting people take political offices and his role in the zoning of governorship to Eket Senatorial in District 2015, commended him for sacrificing for the growth of the party in particular and state in general.
Introducing the USD hopeful, Hon. Evangelist Ita Udombon who accompanied him alongside others, said Etuk has capacity to provide effective representation and therefore, urged the people of the area to support his aspiration.
The consultative visit, which had a prayer session, witnessed turn out of party stalwarts, delegates, women and youths.
